new represented artist
casa triÂNGULO, SÃO PAULO
04.03.2015 - 04.03.2015
We are very pleased to announce that Casa Triângulo now represents the guatemalan artist Dario Escobar.
With works already included in a number of prestigious public and private collections, such as The Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA), Los Angeles; La Colección/Museo Jumex, Mexico D.F.; Daros Latinamerica Collection, Zurich and Centre Pompidou, Paris, Dario Escobar has strengthened the role of Central America in the contemporary art world. The artist appropriates everyday objects and pop cultural icons in his work, repositioning them in the world whilst inviting the public to reconsider their function. The use of different materials as support for the works - the results go from painting to sculpture - associated with references from historical periods, the insertion of colonial baroque and constructivist elements for instance, give these objects new meanings. Escobar plays with concept and context, he creates a contemporary version of the ready-made.
