Overview
Since his initial works, the artist has dedicated himself to investigating the possibilities of representation on two-dimensional surfaces, highlighting the process of representing three-dimensional objects, where perspective is artificially forced until revealing the flat character of the support.

Working at the intersection of two and three dimensions, Valdirlei Dias Nunes produces paintings on sculpture and sculptures on painting, with a polished and precise workmanship, the unexpected impossibility of meeting movements such as minimalism, here showed in the process of serialization and election of primary geometric forms, and in surrealism, in this case that of a more metaphysical aspect, only the enigmatic character of the works increases.

His work went through a long process of formal purification, eliminating everything that was unnecessary. Recently, the artist evoked elements that appeared in his initial works, comparing them with the current ones, grilles, boxes, beams, ginders, gold, black, trompe l'oeil, and using the astute game of representation, offers works which rescue the silence, contemplation and enchantment of painting today.
