Overview
Tony Camargo's production synthesizes important poetic questions regarding Brazilian art produced since 2000´s. Combining the visual rigor of the constructive tradition with performative actions and the humor of popular taste, the artist works the confrontation of apparently opposite poetic systems, exploring the limits of space and pictorial language.
The color is the fundamental element that allins a diverse production and questions, among other themes, the articulations between the controlled language of commercial images and subject's irrationality in mundane chaos. For the artist, his photos and videos belong to a poetic atmosphere that arises from the shock between the plastic rigor of his geometric paintings of constructive origin and the creative chaos of his personal performances, directly connected to the unpredictability of life. The result is an in-depth investigation about the spatiality of the real world.
